Please fill in all boxes and press the send button at the bottom once
Q1 How do you think congestion in this area should be tackled?
Improve access by radial routes, particularly through public transport, cycling and walking provision..
Q2a How would a new road link help you move around or through the area?
It would not as new roads only increase traffic and thus congestion as demonstrated by the 2006 CPRE/Countryside Agency Report into the A34 Newbury bypass and similar road building schemes.
Q2b How would a rapid transit link help you move around or through the area?
It would not on this route
Q2c How would new cycle and pedestrian routes alongside the link help you move through the area?
Q3 What contribution do you think improved links between A370,A38
& Hartcliffe would make to local businesses?
Q3 How might they attract new businesses into the area?"
Q3A None. All the developments that have taken place eg Imperial Park, Symes Avenue have been achieved successfully with existing links. As to Hengrove Park,Computershare is already in the area and therefore traffic to work should not increase, the Leisure Pool’s main use is likely to be off peak and the majority of journeys to the new Hospital will be by visitors and thus off peak.
Q4a Do you have any concerns about these options? New Roads?
Yes - see answer to second question and also under “Do you have any other comments”. Also destroys valuable greenbelt ,farm land and wildlife habitats.
Q4b Rapid Transit?
Yes if built on greenbelt
Q4c Combined rapid transit/road links?
New roads would deter people from using rapid transit
Q4d How does the choice of corridor affect your views?
Would be the same whatever the corridor.
Q5 Are there other transport improvements in this area you would like us to consider?
As stated in the answer to the first question, better public transport from the suburbs into the centre on the main radial routes and more cycle and pedestrian routes..

Q11 Do you have any other comments?
Bus Rapid transit plus cycling and walking provision is the only acceptable choice but must not encroach on the greenbelt. This would ensure that the recommendation in 10.113 of the Sustainability Assessment of the revised Regional Spatial Strategy is complied with. Also if Bristol is to keep at the top of the sustainable City list, it needs to improve public transport and not encourage more car use by building more roads.
